Today I decided to tidy up my bedroom to give you a quick tour and show off the new headboard that I found on fb marketplace yesterday.




I have been wanting to get a larger mattress for awhile now. We currently have a full bed, but as I've gotten older, I've grown larger (lol)  and would like a bed a tab bit roomier. I hate to be right up against someone as I sleep, and I like to stretch out.





So I've been on the lookout for a queen or king sized headboard.





I knew I just needed to be patient and let the universe send the perfect one to me.




 To be honest, new furniture doesn't really appeal to me the way that vintage pieces do. I love the history behind the pieces and they are usually better quality, as well as unique.








When I spotted this vintage headboard  on marketplace a few nights ago...I was smitten.




The best part was that it was only $95 and was a queen size! The lady who had it before me used it on her king bed, so I am happy that a king mattress is an option as well.






My husband was kind enough to build me a frame for it last night and mounted the headboard to our full size mattress, so I could enjoy it even though we haven't purchased a bigger mattress yet.






I love it so much!





I deicide to go outside and snip some honeysuckle branches and add them to my bouquet of roses for these pictures.





The bedroom smells so pretty now.






I apologize that I am so behind on blog posts! I started painting our porch ceiling, and wore myself out. I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, so if I over do something, a flare usually follows, which can lasts for weeks sometimes.





I would have been fine if I had just painted the porch and rested, but then I went and started tearing out sheetrock in our bathroom to expose a brick wall... and lol it just went downhill from there.




So, I am a bit behind..hopefully I will get some good photos of the playroom this week to share with you!





I had to do a quick post today though, to say hello and share my headboard with you.






I hope you are all doing well. My little boy and I have been spending lots of time outside lately. We started a Butterly Garden this year and I want to share it with you too.

I may have just found the perfect piece of furniture on Craigslist recently...and it seems to be bringing the room and my vision for it, to life.






I absolutely love French style furniture. My home is a victorian, but oddly I don't really love true Victorian style. I prefer the soft curvy lines of french pieces, rather than the dark, masculine and sometimes over powering eastlake style furniture.






I'm sure I do have a few victorian pieces around my home, but french style, especially Louis XV is my favorite.





When I spotted this antique hand carved Louis XV console table on craigslist I knew it needed to come home with me. When the seller dropped the price almost in half, I went for it. The hand carved bouquet of pink flowers in the bottom center was what sold me on it.





So into the library my new antique French console table went.






Her lines are graceful and feminine.






I love the pop of blue/green color that she lends to the space.  The blue of the table compliments my antique settee perfectly! This settee is a true piece of antique French furniture and is extremely old. It was imported from Europe.





Below is a Pinterest photo of a French console table that is similar to mine.




I decided to order my favorite French fabric of all time. This is called Covington Bosporus. I ordered it to drape on either sides of my French doors in the library. I love the blues and greens and I believe it will marry well with my table and settee. This fabric also looks beautiful with pink, which is good as my walls are a very pale pink and so are some of my pillows.





Here is a Pinterest picture of what look I'm trying to go for. You can see that the beautiful blue/green console table looks quite nice with the leopard rug! I actually don't even notice the rug. I have black and brown damask rugs in my living room. They are beautiful, but also a lifesaver when you have children. So many things have been spilled on those rugs and they still look great! I try to have dark colored rugs throughout my home, one, because not everyone takes their shoes off at the door (we are all guilty) and two, because I live with two boys, aka, my son and husband. I TRY to incorporate just a little masculine into my decor when I can, for them.






So, this is the start of my new look. I ordered everything and it is still en route to me.





I only have three framed pictures of France on the walls right now. I am hoping that this year I will be able to put up  French style moldings on the walls in here. I want this space to be very French Chic!






And....just a peek at a project that I've almost completed after two years of waiting for the right items to show up. I can't wait to share it with you soon!





We have been so busy here at Welch House. Yesterday we finally finished the repairs on our front porch and portico ceilings. Loose paint has been scraped off, and in a few days I will start painting them! I can't wait to share the before and afters with you! I also need to share my son's toy room with you as well! It will be a busy summer! Stay well, and I will talk to you soon!

I finally bit the bullet and painted the wood work in this area. While it was beautiful, it wasn't my style and I didn't feel too badly because the woodwork was not original to the home.  The white woodwork brightened up this space beautifully. Our kitchen does have a gorgeous bead board ceiling which I love! I have no plans on painting it. I love the contrast of the ceiling and the walls. I would also like to paint the tiles...someday.






I love the windows here. When you look outside you will see a beautiful pink cherry blossom tree, and also our sweet antique wishing well.






Its a lovely spot to sit.










Love the chairs so much!





I have been wanting to get curtains for this area, but I'm still debating on what to choose. I have had long panels in here before, but I'm not for sure if I liked that look. I thought about white roman style shades. It would be nice to have some bit of privacy. These windows are ground level and at night I'm always afraid I'm going to see someone's face peeking in. Probably because my husband has done this to me a time or too. lol





Another  "before" view looking into our nook. I did take this row of cabinets down to open up the kitchen and I don't regret it at all.






This is the view now. I cleaned the mirror last night and I think I forgot to straighten it. Oops!





The antique mirror is from a local antique store and the painting was a ten dollar garage sale find from many years ago. I have been saving it for my forever home.
